Can we really slow aging—or are we simply getting better at treating age-related diseases?
In this episode of Decoding Longevity, we speak with Professor Richard A. Miller, Professor of Pathology at the University of Michigan and Director of the Paul F. Glenn Center for Biology of Aging Research. As one of the founding leaders of the National Institute on Aging's Interventions Testing Program (ITP), Professor Miller has helped establish the gold standard for testing longevity interventions in mammals.
Together, we explore why scientific rigor matters in longevity research, what decades of mouse studies have taught us about rapamycin, acarbose, metformin, and biological aging, and why many of the field's biggest claims fail under careful testing. We also discuss biomarkers, healthspan, sex-specific responses to longevity interventions, and what it really takes to translate discoveries from mice to humans.
If you're interested in longevity science, healthy aging, geroscience, and evidence-based approaches to extending healthspan, this episode is one you won't want to miss.
