I've spent over 30 years working in emergency medicine, and one molecule keeps coming up in longevity conversations: Urolithin A. In this video, I break down what Urolithin A actually is, how it's converted by your gut bacteria, and what the real peer-reviewed research says about its effects on mitochondrial health, muscle strength, and healthy aging — no hype, just the studies.
I walk through the foundational 2016 Nature Medicine animal study, the 2019 human safety trial, and the two placebo-controlled human trials from 2022 that measured actual muscle strength and endurance results. I also cover the limitations of this research that most videos skip, and why Urolithin A is not a replacement for resistance training and adequate protein intake.
If you're new here, I'm Dr. Joanette — an ER doctor and founder of Optimum Health MD. This channel is about longevity grounded in research, not trends.
