If your last blood test came back normal, does that actually mean your blood sugar is safe, or simply that it is not yet bad enough to be given a name? In this video I explain the difference between a diagnostic threshold and a healthy target, why the risk attached to blood sugar rises steadily long before anyone mentions diabetes, and why crossing 60 changes the picture in ways most people are never told. I also cover the twist that catches so many people out, because the right number for someone taking diabetes medication is not the same as the right number for someone who is not. Blood sugar sits quietly behind a great deal of what we fear as we age, from heart attacks and strokes to kidney damage and dementia, and the damage it does is slow, silent and largely painless until it is advanced. Understanding where your own number sits, and understanding how you got there, is one of the most useful things you can do for your future health. What matters here is not only the level on the page but the way that level was reached. A low reading achieved through food, movement and muscle reflects a body that is working well. A low reading forced down by strong medication is a very different thing, and one of the most important trials in modern diabetes care had to be stopped early because of it. That distinction is the heart of this video, and it is the reason blanket advice to push your number as low as possible is wrong for some people and right for others. In this video you'll learn: -Why normal on a blood test is a diagnostic threshold rather than a healthy target -How risk rises steadily even inside the so called normal range -What the research shows about blood sugar and dementia risk in people without diabetes -Why your body handles glucose differently after the age of 60 -What the ACCORD trial revealed about pushing blood sugar too low with medication -Why a low number reached naturally is not the same as a low number forced down by drugs -The food, movement, sleep and muscle levers that lower blood sugar safely -The fasting glucose and HbA1c ranges worth aiming for if you take no medication -The warning signs that your treatment may be pushing you too low Disclaimer: This is not personal medical advice and does not override what your doctor says. Please keep taking any medication you have been prescribed and speak to your GP or diabetes team before changing anything.
