*Intestinal Barrier Permeability, the Microbiota and Aging* *Could the health of our gut influence how the rest of our body ages?* In this session from *Nutrition and Nutraceuticals for Healthy Aging* at the *Milan Longevity Summit 2026*, *Professor Maria Rescigno* explores the complex relationship between the intestinal barrier, the microbiota, inflammation, and ageing. The gut is not simply responsible for digestion. Its intestinal barrier helps regulate the interaction between trillions of microorganisms and the immune system. When this barrier becomes compromised, microbial products can cross into the body, potentially contributing to chronic inflammation and systemic dysfunction. Professor Rescigno examines how these mechanisms change with age and why maintaining the delicate relationship between the microbiome, intestinal barrier, and immune system could be fundamental to healthier ageing. Professor Maria Rescigno is Professor at *Humanitas University* and a researcher at *IRCCS Humanitas Research Hospital*. An internationally recognised immunologist, her work focuses on the microbiota, mucosal immunity, intestinal barrier function, inflammation, and the complex interactions between microorganisms and the human immune system. The Milan Longevity Summit brings together global leaders across science, medicine, policy, business, technology and society to rethink the future of health through a *One Health* perspective — recognising that the wellbeing of people, planet and economies is deeply interconnected. *Learn more about the Milan Longevity Summit:* https://www.milanlongevitysummit.org/it/speakers26/maria-rescigno #MilanLongevitySummit #Longevity #OneHealth #MariaRescigno #Microbiome #GutHealth #Immunology #Inflammation #HealthyAgeing #Healthspan
