About this video

Creator description · original language

Senolytics are one of the most exciting and controversial areas in longevity science right now. Compounds that selectively clear senescent “zombie” cells may help slow aspects of biological aging and reduce inflammation — but not all approaches are created equal. In this video I break down the science behind cellular senescence, senolytics, autophagy, mitophagy, and mTOR, and explain why I’m personally waiting on the FOXO4-DRI peptide until we see human clinical data. As a PhD scientist who studies cellular biology, I’m always interested in promising new interventions — but I also believe longevity strategies should be grounded in mechanism, evidence, and safety, not hype. We’ll cover: What senescent “zombie” cells are and why they accumulate with age What senolytics do and how they work The difference between senolytics and autophagy/mitophagy Why FOXO4-DRI is interesting (but currently supported mainly by mouse data) The role of p53 signaling in cellular senescence and why that pathway deserves caution Natural senolytic compounds like fisetin and quercetin Why pulsed senolytic approaches may make more biological sense than daily interventions How rapamycin and mTOR signaling fit into longevity protocols Longevity is not about doing the most aggressive intervention possible. It’s about understanding the biology and making thoughtful decisions that support long-term cellular health.
