About this video

Creator description · original textText language: English

*Can we measure biological age more accurately than the number of candles on a birthday cake?* In this session from *Measuring Ageing: Biomarkers, Clocks, and Predictive Tools at the Milan Longevity Summit 2026, Professor Claudio Franceschi explores the current state of the art in biological age clocks and the emerging tools that are transforming longevity science.* As researchers move beyond chronological age, biological clocks based on molecular, cellular, and physiological markers are providing unprecedented insights into how we age, how disease develops, and how interventions can be tailored to improve healthspan. This conversation examines both the promise and the limitations of these technologies, and what they could mean for the future of precision medicine. *Professor Claudio Franceschi is Professor Emeritus of Immunology at the University of Bologna* and one of the world's foremost pioneers in the biology of ageing. He is internationally recognised for introducing the concept of "inflammaging"—the chronic, low-grade inflammation associated with ageing—which has fundamentally shaped modern longevity research. His work continues to influence the development of biomarkers of ageing, biological clocks, and personalised strategies for healthy longevity. The Milan Longevity Summit brings together global leaders across science, medicine, policy, business, technology and society to rethink the future of health through a One Health perspective—recognising that the wellbeing of people, planet and economies is deeply interconnected.
