About this video

Creator description Β· original textText language: English

Can you put vaginal estrogen cream on your face? One patient's question sent dermatologist Dr. Corinne Erickson on a path few in her field have taken πŸ‘‡ Diagnosed with type 1 diabetes at age 12, Dr. Erickson learned early how hormones, diet, and exercise shape our health. Decades later, as a 46-year-old dermatologist, she began noticing changes in her own skin and hair, and the same patterns in her patients. Women were doing everything right with exercise, nutrition, sleep, and stress, yet still felt like they were "falling off a cliff." A prescription cream alone was no longer enough. Patients wanted to understand why. That need led Dr. Erickson to become a Menopause Society Certified Practitioner and to help women understand how perimenopause and menopause affect their skin and hair. In this clip from the Science of Skin podcast, Dr. Patti Farris and Dr. Erickson discuss her journey and why menopause care belongs in dermatology. πŸ“– Read Dr. Erickson's preprint, "The Pilocutaneous Syndrome of Menopause": https://figshare.com/articles/preprint/The_Pilocutaneous_Syndrome_of_Menopause/33090086?file=66996713 ▢️ Watch the full episode: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=7AHPnJLP_ck&t=138s πŸ’¬ Has your skin or hair changed during perimenopause or menopause?
