About this video

Creator description · original textText language: English

In 2013 a geneticist at UCLA found 353 places on the genome that keep time. Feed in a sample and the model returns your age to within three and a half years, having never met you. People whose clock runs ahead of their calendar die sooner. That part is real, it has been replicated across cohorts, and it is why biological age testing became an industry. Then the industry skipped a step. There is one thing medicine has to check before it treats a number as a target, and the last time it got skipped, in a completely different field, the result was the opposite of what everyone expected. That story is in the video. Comment SURROGATE and I will send you the papers, including the 1989 trial and the correction the author of the clock published on his own work. Evidence tier: the mortality association is observational and replicated. The studies that move the number are small and mostly uncontrolled. #longevity #healthspan #biohacking #epigenetics #biologicalage #epigeneticclock #healthyaging #clinicaltrials
