How do aging clocks measure your true biological age? In this longevity science video, we look at the mechanics behind both epigenetic (DNA) and blood-based clocks to track your pace of aging.
Dr. Jorge Romero explains biological age and aging clocks based on research he led at the U.S. National Institute on Aging (NIA), part of the National Institutes of Health (NIH), where he developed and studied blood-based aging clocks and their relationship with health, frailty, disease risk, and longevity.
In this video, you'll learn how biological age differs from chronological age, why people age at different rates, and how scientists use aging clocks to estimate the pace of aging.
About Dr. Jorge Romero (Jorge Martínez Romero, PhD)
I am a scientist specializing in aging biology, nutrition, and longevity research. Much of my research was conducted at NIH research facilities on the Johns Hopkins Bayview Campus, where I investigated biomarkers of aging, their association with lifespan, frailty, and health outcomes, as well as interventions aimed at modifying the pace of aging.
My goal on this channel is to separate longevity science from fiction by translating aging research into evidence-based insights.
