About this video

Creator description · original language

1 of the 12 hallmarks of aging is mitochondrial dysfunction. During Aerobic respiration, when mitochondria have all the oxygen they need, each mitochondria produces about 36 ATP energy units for every molecule of glucose that gets processed through the electron transport chain. During Anaerobic respiration, when the mitochondria do not have enough oxygen, each mitochondria produces about 2 ATP energy units. That’s 18X LESS energy output for the same input. This is not good. This means hypoxic tissues produce about 18 times less energy than healthy tissues do. One of the most objective things we know about dry needling is that it significantly increases blood flow throughout the brain and body. Increased blood flow means increased oxygen. There are trillions of mitochondria throughout the brain and body. Just think about 1 trillion mitochondria for a sec. And those mitochondria are your health energy generators. And the more energy they create the healthier you are, and the more resistant to age-related decline you are. Would you rather have those 1 trillion energy generators producing 2 trillion ATP energy units, or 1 trillion energy generators producing 36 trillion ATP energy units? That is the difference we can make simply through optimizing blood flow and oxygen saturation throughout the brain and body.
