What if the strongest predictor of how long you’ll live isn’t your cholesterol, your weight, or your genetics - but your muscle mass?
After nearly a decade working in Emergency Medicine, I’ve seen the end result of preventable disease up close: falls that destroy independence, type 2 diabetes that starts decades earlier, and people who look “healthy” right up until they aren’t. What consistently separates those who stay independent into their 70s, 80s and beyond from those who don’t is one thing: muscle mass and strength.
In this video, I explain the science of muscle and longevity - why muscle loss (sarcopenia) starts earlier than most people realise, how low muscle mass increases your risk of early death, and why strength training is one of the most powerful tools we have for protecting blood sugar control, metabolic health, brain function, fall risk, and independence as we age.
This isn’t about bodybuilding or aesthetics.
It’s about healthspan, lifespan, and staying independent for as long as possible.
