About this video

Creator description · original language

The Science Behind Cellular Aging: From Telomeres to Senolytics What happens to our cells as we age? In this video, I explore the science behind cellular aging, from telomere shortening and DNA damage to apoptosis, BCL 2, cellular senescence, and the senescence associated secretory phenotype (SASP). I explain how damaged cells can become senescent “zombie cells,” how they can affect nearby healthy cells, and how these cells may contribute to age related diseases. Finally, I introduce senolytics, an emerging approach that aims to selectively eliminate senescent cells. This video was created as my entry for the Breakthrough Junior Challenge 2026. #breakthroughjuniorchallenge #Senescence #Telomeres #Senolytics
