Kidney problems can be silent for years, and many early kidney warning signs are easy to miss. In this video, I’m Dr. Joanette, an ER physician with over 30 years of experience, and I’m sharing five quiet signs that your kidneys may be struggling, including foamy urine, nighttime urination, swelling, fatigue, high blood pressure, nausea, itching, metallic taste, and appetite loss.
Many people think kidney trouble always causes severe back pain, blood in the urine, or obvious illness. But in the ER, I’ve seen many patients who only felt tired, noticed swollen ankles, or thought waking up at night to urinate was “just aging.” Then their labs showed elevated creatinine, lower GFR, high blood pressure, or protein in the urine.
This video is not meant to scare you. It is meant to help you pay attention to the subtle clues your body may already be giving you.
