About this video

Creator description · original textText language: English

Every NMN brand claims their dose is "the best." So what does the actual clinical research say? The earliest human NMN studies (Yoshino, Igarashi, Okabe) tested 250mg per day and found significant increases in blood NAD+ with no safety concerns — which is how 250mg became known as the minimum clinically effective dose. But is it the best dose? Two more recent studies help answer that: Liao et al. (2021), Journal of the International Society of Sports Nutrition — tested 48 amateur runners on 300mg, 600mg, and 1200mg NMN daily over 6 weeks, measuring aerobic capacity. Yi et al. (2023), GeroScience — tested 80 healthy adults aged 40–65 on 300mg, 600mg, and 900mg daily over 60 days, measuring blood NAD+ and 6-minute walk test performance. Both studies point to the same pattern: results improve substantially from 300mg to 600mg, but going higher (900mg–1200mg) shows meaningfully diminishing returns. Our honest take: 250–300mg is a solid, well-studied, safe starting point 600mg is where the dose-response evidence is strongest 900–1200mg may not be worth the extra cost for most everyday users One practical tip: look for a product where one full serving is split across 2 capsules of 250mg or more each, so you can step your dose up or down as your needs change. This is Episode 2 of our NMN Deep Dive series. Coming up next: Uthever vs. generic NMN — what's actually different? Estalife NMN is HSA notified.
