Dementia is one of the diseases people fear more than almost any other, and understandably so. The idea of slowly losing your memory, your independence and your sense of self over many years is terrifying. What’s encouraging, though, is that the same lifestyle habits that protect your heart, blood vessels and metabolism also appear to strongly protect your brain.
In this video, I break down four surprisingly simple five-minute habits that have genuine evidence behind them for reducing dementia risk over the long term. We talk about blood sugar control, inflammation, cardiovascular fitness, oral health and why Alzheimer’s disease is increasingly being linked to the same metabolic dysfunction driving many modern chronic diseases.
None of these habits are extreme, but rather they are small daily behaviours that quietly compound over decades, improving the long-term health of the brain one decision at a time.
This video is for education purposes only.
What you’ll learn:
-Why dementia is closely linked to metabolic health
-The connection between insulin resistance and Alzheimer’s disease
-How short bursts of movement improve brain health
-Why walking after meals dramatically improves blood sugar control
-The evidence behind nuts and the Mediterranean diet
-How cardiovascular fitness protects the brain over decades
-The surprising link between gum disease and dementia
-Why small habits compound into major long-term brain protection
