About this video

Creator description · original language

Mitochondrial dysfunction. Mitochondria are the batteries inside your cells, and over time they wear out. But it's not just wear and tear, they also produce free radicals that damage cell membranes and DNA (both nuclear and mitochondrial). When DNA gets damaged, it's like the instructions inside your cells become blurry. The "workers" reading those instructions start making mistakes. This is called epigenetic drift, and it's one of the biggest areas of research we focus on in regenerative medicine, specifically epigenetic reprogramming: how do we make a cell remember its original job? This connects to the information theory of aging, a concept David Sinclair pioneered, which proposes that cells essentially lose their identity over time. Altered intercellular communication. As cells age, they stop communicating with each other properly, which compounds the damage over time. Chronic inflammation (SASP). Senescence-associated secretory phenotype is the technical term, but simply put: your body accumulates "zombie cells" it can't clear out, and these cells release inflammatory signals that create a feedback loop of chronic inflammation. Immunosenescence. Your immune system wears out too, and that's another major driver of chronic inflammation as you age. Understanding these root mechanisms is the foundation of aging well, not just living longer, but living with real vigor and vitality. #HallmarksOfAging #Longevity #EpigeneticReprogramming #RegenerativeMedicine #EternaHealth #shorts
