About this video

Creator description · original language

Everyone keeps asking the same question: what actually is NMN? So let's start from the beginning. NMN stands for Nicotinamide Mononucleotide — a molecule your body already produces naturally. It plays a key role in helping your body make NAD+, one of the most important molecules involved in cellular energy and repair. In simple terms: Food = fuel Mitochondria = engine ATP = the electricity your cells run on NAD+ = the delivery system that helps move that energy through the process As we age, NAD+ levels naturally decline — partly due to an enzyme called CD38, which increases with age and inflammation and breaks down NAD+. At the same time, NAD+ is constantly being used by cellular systems like sirtuins (involved in cellular health and ageing research) and PARPs (enzymes that help repair DNA damage). So the body is both using and losing NAD+ at once. You might wonder — why not just take NAD+ directly? The molecule is too large to be efficiently absorbed, so researchers focus on precursors instead: molecules the body can convert into NAD+. The pathway looks like this: NR → NMN → NAD+. NMN is the direct precursor. Human clinical studies have shown that NMN supplementation can raise NAD+ levels in the body. What researchers are still studying is how that translates into real-world outcomes like energy, metabolism, and ageing — the science is promising, but still evolving. We'll unpack this step by step across the series. This is Episode 1 of our Ingredient Deep Dive series. Coming up: Mitochondria, explained simply What actually happens if you take NAD+ directly NR vs NMN — what's the difference What the human clinical studies actually show How NAD+ metabolism really works This video is for general education on supplement science and does not constitute medical advice. If you have questions about whether NMN is right for you, please consult your doctor or pharmacist. 📍 Made in Singapore — Estalife Factory, Ang Mo Kio 🔗 https://estalife.com/products/estalife-nmn #madeinsingapore #NMN #Supplements #Science
