Colostrum is everywhere right now. Celebrities drink it, influencers swear it heals your gut, and sales are up thousands of percent. So I did the boring thing. I read the actual studies.
Here is what I found. The real research on colostrum and gut permeability was mostly done in endurance athletes who had just damaged their own gut lining with extreme exercise, and in hospital patients. Not healthy adults. When you pool the data, the certainty is rated low to very low. Much of that research is funded by, or tied to, the companies selling the powder. And the antibodies that make colostrum genuinely powerful for a newborn do not survive an adult stomach.
For a healthy adult, this is thin evidence, the wrong population, and a mechanism that does not survive digestion. It probably will not hurt you. It just will not do what it is being sold to do.
Your adult gut is already built. You feed it. Thirty different plants a week, fermented foods, sleep, and a steady daily rhythm...
Before your next supplement, ask two questions. Where is the evidence, and who paid for it. Please tell me which supplement I should take apart next.
