In this keynote address, Prof. Deepak Kumar Saini, Convener of Longevity India and Professor at IISc, traces the evolution of his lab’s research in the field of aging — from uncovering molecular mechanisms like DNA damage and cellular senescence, to building advanced models that inform national-level health initiatives.
Starting with studies on ROS, ATM kinase signaling, and the role of CXCR4 in inflammation and aging, Prof. Saini explores how his team progressed to 3D and fractionated models of aging, leading to the launch of Longevity India.
He shares updates on the BHARAT study, insights into the gut-aging axis, multi-organ system aging, and how AI is accelerating biomarker discovery. This talk captures the scientific foundation of a movement poised to transform the future of healthy aging in India.

The BHARAT (Biomarkers of Healthy Aging, Resilience, Adversity, and Transitions) study is India’s first comprehensive research initiative on aging, mapping how Indians age and identifying early, culturally relevant, and cost-effective interventions for age-related conditions.
Together, we can shift the focus from sickcare to true healthcare and create a healthier, brighter future for India. Learn More & Support our Cause: https://www.longevity.iisc.ac.in/support-us
