Dr. Matt Kaeberlein explains that while organ transplant patients typically take daily rapamycin to prevent rejection, those using it for health maintenance often follow a once-weekly schedule of four to six milligrams. This lower frequency is based on anecdotal reports and trials with the related drug everolimus, which showed minimal side effects in healthy older adults. Short-term studies suggest this regimen may improve immune response to vaccines without the significant metabolic or infection risks associated with daily immunosuppression.
