In this talk, John Mulder, CEO, Diagnoptics Technologies, discusses the role of advanced glycation end products (AGEs) in aging and chronic disease. AGEs form when sugars react with proteins, leading to cross-linking in tissues that reduces flexibility and impairs normal function. Elevated AGE levels have been linked to conditions such as cardiovascular disease, diabetes, kidney failure, Alzheimer’s disease, and certain cancers, and are considered indicators of accelerated aging.
The session introduces the AGE Reader, a non-invasive technology that measures AGE accumulation in human tissue. By assessing AGE levels, clinicians can identify potential health risks earlier and guide personalised preventive interventions and further diagnostic evaluation.
