In this talk, Kumaar Bagrodia, Founder, Neuroleap & Arkni PhotoBiolife, explores the biological underpinnings of brain aging and the therapeutic potential of photobiomodulation (PBM) in mitigating cognitive decline. As the brain ages, processes such as mitochondrial dysfunction, oxidative stress, chronic inflammation, and protein aggregation contribute to reduced neural efficiency and neurodegenerative conditions like Alzheimer’s disease. PBM, which employs low-level red and near-infrared light, offers a promising non-invasive intervention by enhancing mitochondrial function, boosting ATP production, and reducing reactive oxygen species.
Mr. Bagrodia additionally discusses how PBM has been shown to modulate inflammatory pathways, promote neuroplasticity, and improve cerebral blood flow, thereby supporting cognitive resilience.
