*Europe's population is changing. Are our policies changing fast enough with it?* In this presentation from *Policies for Sustainable and Inclusive Societies* at the *Milan Longevity Summit 2026*, *Fabrizio Natale* of the *European Commission's Joint Research Centre* explores the demographic transformations reshaping Europe and what they mean for the future of public policy. Population ageing, lower fertility, migration, urbanisation, and regional population change are not abstract demographic trends. They influence labour markets, public services, healthcare, housing, infrastructure, territorial development, and the sustainability of welfare systems. Understanding where and how these changes are happening is essential to designing effective responses. *Fabrizio Natale* is Team Leader for Demography at the *European Commission Joint Research Centre (JRC)*, working at the intersection of demographic research, data, and evidence-based policymaking. His contribution shows how demography, data and analysis help policymakers understand how population change is unfolding across different countries and territories and anticipate its social and economic consequences. Furthermore, he highlights a central challenge for Europe's future: **demographic change cannot simply be managed after it happens. It needs to become part of how we design policy today.** The Milan Longevity Summit brings together global leaders across science, policy, business, technology and society to explore longevity through a *One Health* perspective — connecting the health of people with the health of our societies, economies, and planet. *Learn more about the Milan Longevity Summit:* https://www.milanlongevitysummit.org/it/speakers26/fabrizio-natale #MilanLongevitySummit #FabrizioNatale #Demographics #EuropeanCommission #JRC #PopulationChange #OneHealth #SocialPolicy #Longevity #FutureOfEurope
