*Animal Proteins vs. Plant Proteins and Their Contribution to Dietary Patterns in the Context of Healthy Aging* *For healthy ageing, does it matter where our protein comes from?* In this session from *Nutrition and Nutraceuticals for Healthy Aging* at the *Milan Longevity Summit 2026*, *Professor Patrizia Riso* examines one of the most debated questions in nutrition: the role of animal and plant proteins within dietary patterns for healthy ageing. Protein becomes particularly important as we grow older, helping to maintain muscle mass, physical function, and metabolic health. But protein sources differ in their nutritional composition and form part of much broader dietary patterns. Professor Riso explores the evidence around animal and plant proteins, moving beyond simple comparisons to examine how different sources can contribute to nutritionally adequate, balanced dietary patterns across the lifespan. Professor Patrizia Riso is Professor at the *University of Milan*, where her research focuses on human nutrition, dietary patterns, functional foods, and the relationship between food components and health. Her work contributes to understanding how nutrition can support disease prevention and healthy ageing. The Milan Longevity Summit brings together global leaders across science, medicine, policy, business, technology and society to rethink the future of health through a *One Health* perspective — recognising that the wellbeing of people, planet and economies is deeply interconnected. *Learn more about the Milan Longevity Summit:* https://www.milanlongevitysummit.org/it/speakers26/patrizia-riso #MilanLongevitySummit #Longevity #OneHealth #PatriziaRiso #Protein #PlantProtein #Nutrition #HealthyAgeing #MuscleHealth #Healthspan
