About this video

*Is Longevity Part of Human Evolution?* *Were humans actually designed to live this long?* In this session from *Nutrition and Nutraceuticals for Healthy Aging* at the *Milan Longevity Summit 2026*, *Professor Hans Konrad Biesalski* approaches longevity through an evolutionary lens, asking how human biology, nutrition, and our changing environment have shaped the lifespan we experience today. Human life expectancy has increased dramatically, but our biology evolved under very different nutritional and environmental conditions. Professor Biesalski examines the relationship between evolution, nutrient availability, metabolism, and ageing — and what this history can teach us about the conditions required for healthy longevity today. Professor Hans Konrad Biesalski is Professor at the *University of Hohenheim* and an internationally recognised expert in nutritional medicine and micronutrients. His research has focused extensively on nutrition, vitamin metabolism, micronutrient deficiencies, and their relationship with human health and disease. The Milan Longevity Summit brings together global leaders across science, medicine, policy, business, technology and society to rethink the future of health through a *One Health* perspective — recognising that the wellbeing of people, planet and economies is deeply interconnected. *Learn more about the Milan Longevity Summit:* https://www.milanlongevitysummit.org/it/speakers26/hans-konrad-biesalski #MilanLongevitySummit #Longevity #OneHealth #HansKonradBiesalski #Nutrition #HumanEvolution #HealthyAgeing #NutritionalScience #Healthspan
