About this video

Creator description · original textText language: English

Should skin longevity products target one pathway at a time, or many at once? Dr. Ted Lain asks Dr. Mitchel Goldman that question, and his answer leads to a very personal story. Dr. Lain wonders whether future products will target single hallmarks of aging, such as the mTOR pathway, the epigenome, and mitochondrial dysfunction, or whether multi-ingredient formulas like TNS will prove more effective. Dr. Goldman says aging is multifactorial, so stimulating many pathways at once makes sense. He also explains why he strongly prefers topical treatments over the systemic therapies that are popular right now. Dr. Goldman describes how, in his early 40s, a friend running an anti-aging clinic urged him to start injecting growth hormone. He was later diagnosed with thyroid cancer, and his oncologist questioned why he was taking so much growth hormone at his age. That experience made him cautious about injectable peptides and hormones. He and Dr. Lain discuss their concerns about unregulated peptides that haven't been through rigorous placebo-controlled trials, along with questions about where raw ingredients are sourced and how pure they are. The takeaway: be careful about jumping on the latest trend, and look for companies with well-formulated, well-studied products. ▶️ Watch the full conversation in Episode 137: https://www.youtube.com/watch?v=O_b-PF-STyA&t=3s #GrowthHormone #Peptides #AntiAging #Longevity #HallmarksOfAging #SkinLongevity #Skincare #Dermatology #Dermatologist #ScienceOfSkin Follow and Listen to the Podcast Here: 🍎 Apple Podcasts — https://podcasts.apple.com/us/podcast/skincare-confidential/id1664286292 🎵 Spotify — https://open.spotify.com/show/033Vffp4W8A72pVRVaoWzs 📦 Amazon Music — https://music.amazon.com/podcasts/7de48e5e-f450-466b-a0f4-f2275b67757f/skincare-confidential 💚 iHeart Radio — https://www.iheart.com/podcast/269-the-science-of-skin-269540115/ 📻 Audacy — https://www.audacy.com/podcast/skincare-confidential-4398f Disclaimer: This clip is not intended to provide diagnosis, treatment, or medical advice.
